The Inner Moray Local Development Plan

In summer 2010 the Highland Council issued the Development Plan Scheme 2010 which sets out how the Council will be preparing their plans for using new land over the next year. 4 local development plans will be produced for the Highland Council area and we come under the Inner Moray plan which is the area of Highland which has the highest population and the most pressure for development.

The stages of producing the new plan are:

Call for Sites - Winter 2010 - Current Stage

The Highland Council will ask all landowners in the area to let them know if they have land that they would like to see developed. In this "call for sites" the landowner will:

  • let the highland Council know where the land is;
  • what they would like to see developed, e.g shops or housing
  • any barriers to development e.g the land is prone to flooding

The Highland Council would welcome comments by 29 April 2011. More information is at http://www.highland.gov.uk/yourenvironment/planning/developmentplans/localplans/imfldp.htm

Community Events - Spring 2011

The Highland Council will then hold events in every Community Council area to discuss how the community would like these sites, or any others, to develop. The Council will also work with the community to look at the need for new services in the area, for example improved waste-water treatment, better sports facilities etc.

Main Issues Report - Summer 2011

A main issues report will then be published setting out what the Highland Council thinks are the best options for development and giving reasonable alternatives (identified through the community events).

Responses to the Report - Autumn 2011

The Highland Council will consider responses to the Main Issues Report.
