EnergyShare/British Gas £500K Renewable Energy Fund
We've been passed details by the Energy Saving Scotland Advice Centre of a £500,000 renewable energy fund from which, if we have a suitable and very well-supported project, we could try to secure some funding. The website is at
http://www.energyshare.com/about/with the schools page at
http://www.energyshare.com/schools-2/.
The details are:
"energyshare is about many things. And one of them is learning the best ways to
make community energy projects happen.
British Gas is committed to distributing £3m via the energyshare fund to community renewable projects over the next 3 years.
To kick-start our energy journey, we're searching for our first energyshare funded projects. You can register at http://www.energyshare.com/fund/apply/step/1/ now for the initial £500,000 energyshare funding that we have available.
energyshare really wants to hear from all types of communities across Britain. A
registered community group can apply for up to £100,000, and all we ask is that
the project:
* has an ambition of saving or generating renewable energy
* can demonstrate deep community support
* plans to make a tangible and lasting impact on the community
* will be an inspiration for future projects
What happens next?
The communities who apply will be selected in rounds. Those who have pre-applied and have drummed up the most support on the site will be selected by energyshare at the end of May [2011] to progress to the next round.
We will need to know as much as possible about your Group from your page for the end of May It's important we know about your ideas and ambitions and what you might need funding for. BUT YOU ONLY NEED TO ENTER YOUR NAME TO REGISTER FOR THE FUND NOW. YOU CAN COME BACK AND EDIT THE FORM LATER.
Once you've set up your group, be active and get others to support you. This is crucial, and it will help your group get to the next round of the funding application.
The rounds in the application process are:
* Register your interest on this site using the simple form and generate
as much support as you can for your Group. Closing date is 31st May 2011.
* If you have demonstrated enough support for your group and your meet the criteria you will be invited to submit a full application, in more detail.
This will take place in June 2011.
* Full applications will be shortlisted by the energyshare team, in July
2011.
* The energyshare Fund Directors will decide who they wish to be put
forward for the Public vote.
* Final projects will be open to the public vote to decide which
projects should get the funding!"
