| Flooding at Blairninich | James | Blairninich | I am concerned about recent flooding at the achterneed junction due to the river peffery bursting it's banks, this has had a knock on effect with water travelling down the road to Blairninich and as far as Fodderty school. There seems to be more water coming down off the heights of inchvannie, leading to water collecting at Blairninich. On one very recent occassion water from achterneed flooded Bairninich resulting in houses there having to use sandbags for flood protection, this leaves residents feelling uneasy as it is difficult to predict if there will be floods or not. | 1 |
| co op | POSY PIPER | STRATHPEFFER | It is such a shame to see the old Sheiling shop in the square lying empty for so long, I have thought for a while about what it could be used for. A friend had suggested that a local run co op might be a good idea. Would the local council, if possible, be interested in leasing this building? and running it with volunteers who would be allowed to purchase items at cost in exchange for their time? Ideally it would only sell local or Scottish produce. | 2 |
| Bus service | POSY PIPER | Strathpeffer | Hi just to let you know that the Spa coaches bus service that runs from strathpeffer to Inverness on Monday mornings 7.55am and from Inverness to Strathpeffer Friday evenings 17.20pm is going to stop after xmas. It would be good if we could get enough communters to keep this service going or even to extend it to Monday to Friday for commuters. I think the problem is that there is not enough awareness of the bus transport available from Strathpeffer other than the Stagecoach service which currently only operates one early bus, which goes all round the houses and is not direct, in the morning for communters who need to be at work for 9am. Maybe we could raise this issue through the local grocery shop and collect signatures of support for the service and also gather info to help support introducing a new 5 day bus service to Strathpeffer for commuters. | 1 |
| Dog fouling | Posy Piper | Strathpeffer | Still no response on the issue of dog fouling in Ulladale Crescent, Strathpeffer? This morning I found dog mess on my driveway bordering the main pavement, which I had to then clean up. There is also dog mess on the paths that go past the school pitch even though there is a bin at the top of this path. With these areas now more popular then ever with people walking dogs through the estate to get to Kinellan there is a need for further signs and bins to be put up. | 8 |
| Cafe in the square | Posy Piper | Strathpeffer | What a shame that the cafe in the square has not been open on Saturday evenings for the visitors to the pipe band, a lot of people are missing it being there to enjoy a coffee, hamburger or ice cream whilst relaxing. I would like to support the evening opening hours being kept in place. | 1 |
| Change of use of Pump Room in the Square | K. Derbyshire | Strathpeffer, with Letting Cottage in The Square | With reference to the change of use retrospective planning application by Mark for the fast food outlet in the village cetnre. I spoke to Mark and said that we had no real objection to his planning consent but that we had noticed a considerable amount of litter thrown over the hedge at our letting property which is located on the corner of the square. He assured me that there would be additional bins etc and that he would endeavour to make sure that all litter was deposited in the said bins. However, I have since been told that he intends to open till 9 or 10 pm and put benches outside. This would attract kids late at night and would probably signal a return of the trouble we had a few years ago. Also, the quiet of the area in the evenings would be destroyed. As I said at the start, we have no real objection to the change of use but would strongly recommend that opening hours be kept to 9 - 5 pm and no permanent benches erected. | 1 |
| Bus Timetable | Victoria Elliott | Strathpeffer | It's good news about the increased daytime bus services from November, but we need a later bus back from Inverness in the evening. A last bus at 17.45 is too early and means that although buses run to Dingwall we then have to resort to cars or taxis for any journey from Dingwall all evening. There is only one train at just after 9pm but it also only goes to Dingwall. A mid evening bus at some time between 7pm and 8pm from Inverness to Dingwall, Strathpeffer and Contin is definitely needed, perhaps then going back along the A835 to Dingwall to serve the houses along that route as well. | 2 |
